On June 1, Dongying, east China's Shandong Province, hosted the Dongying–Chile Araucanía Region City Alliance Industrial Cooperation Matchmaking Conference.

During the conference, Chilean representatives introduced the Araucanía Regions abundant natural resources, unique Mapuche cultural heritage, and strengths in agriculture, tourism, forestry, and energy, while outlining prospects for future cooperation.

Dongying presented its advantages in cultural tourism, smart city development, investment promotion, key industries, international vocational education exchanges, and cooperation along the copper industry chain.

The two sides held one-on-one discussions on cooperation in areas including smart cities, vocational education, public health, and cultural tourism, reaching a number of preliminary cooperation agreements.

The conference served as a follow-up event to the “Discover Shandong” program of the 7th China-CEEC Local Leaders’ Meeting and the 2026 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Exchange Week. It also marked another practical platform for industrial cooperation between Dongying and Chile following the economic and trade exchange event jointly held by Shandong Province and Chile in Santiago in 2025.

Through face-to-face exchanges, both sides further identified potential areas of cooperation and promising projects, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.
